Technical data:
Weight: 420 grams (about 1lb)
Maximum rotorspeed: 2000 1/min
Maximum rotor diameter: 1,8 m
Rotor shaft: 10 mm
MFS is for Moving Flybar System (system with mobile stabilization bar).
The MFS-rotor head contains fewer ball joints for control than the conventional rotor head. Without a pitch compensator complete control can be achieved.
Fewer pieces at the main rotor means less weight and lower costs, but the full movement with higher precision and reduced play.
The crucial advantage of the MFS rotor head is:
The mixture controls are always straight in all pitch positions. Thus there is no more changing rate of movement with an associated asymmetrical cyclic blade control in the end positions.
The principle can be clearly seen on the retreating blade.
Construction:
- Completely made by CNC (Computer Numerical Control) manufacturing pieces from solid metal blocks with satin dull surface finish.
- Interior sliding rod in the hollow rotor hub moves the stabilization bar unit and drives it more accurately over the full pitch range, ball raced guidance.
- Fly bar hub double ball raced.
- Mixer arms double ball raced each.
- Aluminium forks with teflon bushes for leading the inner ring of the swash plate.
- Blade grips double ball raced each with 800 lb. axial bearings, therefore also suitable for 1,8 m rotors.
- All steel parts from alloy steel or nickel-plated.
- Alternatively: milled paddles, longer stabilization bar for 3D-flying.
The MFS-rotorhead is also usable on other helicopter systems with 10mm rotorshaft. For optimum performance we recommend the 3D-swashplate #1210.
Interface to other systems:
- free rotor shaft length over the upper shaft bearing: about 60 mm
- 3 mm bore 15 mm under the upper end of the rotorshaft.
The MFS rotor head is a patented design.
